Experiment Log 002: Monster Class Z, D.Experiment 1 (Z): I expected the zombies to not take well to the WDS, given as their nervous systems are somewhat detoriated. This turned out to be the case, but less so; the lowered functioning of what remains of their brains means it doesn't matter anyway. To test how well it functioned, I had them deliberately pass by living people in favor of attacking some of their fellow monsters, with Emishi and Kagami on standby in case they somehow broke control. All sets showed the same results: they were completely controlled, but they are slower and clumsier than they were before. I suspect this is because the WDS is not designed to work on creatures like them. I already have plenty of data on their physiology; if I deem it worth the time and effort, I'll try modifying the weightless alloy to compensate for this. Experiment 2 (D): The monsters I've decided to classify as "demons" for lack of a better term show more strength, intelligence, and speed than the zombies, so they were more difficult to collect. However, conversely, this made them much more adaptable to the WDS. There were some feedback errors--the mutations in their bodies did mean I couldn't control them as well with my base program--but nothing major: twitches in various parts of the body, e.g. (up to and including) the body shifting left just before turning right as I'd commanded it. Of more concern was the sheer number. Of the thirty test subjects, twenty-one of them displayed some form of resistance. These monsters show a great deal of promise, but it's risky to use them as they are now; I'll definitely make modifications and try again. Experiment Log 001: Monster Class Z(ombie).
Preliminary experiments: Complete.Notes: The zombies infesting the Infinite Fortress show increased speed (roughly 1.3x average human speed) and endurance (vulnerable to fire but not deterred by it; lightning stuns temporarily; ignore physical blows even as damage accumulates). Human intelligence is somewhat retained retained, as shown in attempts to remove lock from cage; however, while they could open doors (as observed out of captivity), they lack the dexterity to do more than fumble with locks. Secondary experiments: Complete.Notes: Twenty zombies gathered, previous experiment repeated. Results echoed previous results; however, ten of twenty attempted to tear off lock; four were successful. Endurance further tested: total annihilation required to fully stop one; destruction of head reduces "intelligence" threat, but increases unpredictability factor. Presence of meat draws their attention away: cooked and frozen are ignored, thawed and rotted mostly ignored, fresh and partly rotted draw attention. Most attention is to "live" meat, i.e. still-moving targets; initially hypothesized that they were attracted to motion, but they were drawn towards still living beings as well as moving. Smell may play a part, as well as quality of life, based on state of meats. Tertiary experiments: Results pending.Notes: Magami Ayame was placed in charge of dissection. He seems like he's having fun. Juubei, one wasn't enough, but don't worry; I had Kagami and the Magami brothers collect the rest. How are things going on your end? Hmm. Let me tell a brief story. This all started with what I originally thought was another raid from the Belt Line. Further analysis made it pretty clear that wasn't the case--not so much because I don't think they have zombies and slavering demons up there, but because of the energy readings of those monsters. They were different from what I've read previously in the Infinite Fortress, and, more importantly, they were entering from spatial distortions that weren't anywhere near the Belt Line. While I was caring care of them and their mess, I noticed a flux in my OS. Not long after, I found a black cartridge, which I disassembled and modified. And when I finally opened up Pandora's box...look at everything I found. The world's gotten broader, but I'm still here... Of course I am. I'm not going to leave, like he did.
Maybe I'll jury-rig another one for the others... No, just one of the others, for now. There's still too many unknown quantities in play. In any case, my name is MAKUBEX. Whether you introduce yourselves back or not, either is fine with me. I've already taken the time to go over the previous entries, so I have at least a fair idea of who most of the rest of you are.
